May you are fantasied about the beautiful screen of the big range of
Smartphones. I also love their eye capturing screen display and touch.
Technology in terms of display, is always been on edge and kept on
changing to encounter the other cell phones in the market. Today, best
technology in display has been considered the Amoled, developed by
Samsung and upgraded to Super Amoled. Samsung now using this type of display in most of their smartphones and becoming the leader of the Smartphones.
The “Active matrix”
describes how each OLED is addressed or controlled. Given a m × n
matrix, the number of connectors needed to address the display is m + n.
Each pixel is attached to a switch-device, which actively maintains the
pixel state while other pixels are being addressed, which also prevents
cross talk from inadvertently changing the state of an un-addressed
pixel.
The alternative is a passive matrix display where rows or columns of OLEDs are addressed rather than individual pixels. This is a matrix addressing scheme meaning that only m + n control signals are required to address a m × n display. A pixel in a passive matrix must maintain its state without active driving circuitry until it can be refreshed again.
The new OLED display technology uses a bi-stable pixel, which maintains its state indefinitely without the need for individual transistor elements at each pixel.
As a result, AMOLED displays are not only brighter, use less power, they are also faster. Above picture depicts the difference between Amoled and Pmoled screen and their fabrication. You can see the glass layer and ITO layer in both method of display. The ITO layer consists of different transistor logic which maintains the pixel independently to each other and thus, giving rise to better visual display than its previous technology.
